It's late in the evening and you turn to your bed to rest. It has been a very productive day for you, and you feel that for all the efforts you have given for that day, you deserve to have a good night's rest. So you bring your big pillows to your side, hug them, and appreciate how soft they seem to be. It's nice to lie down on a pair of very soft pillows, but I think it's actually better to actually use pillows that you yourself created.
For a sewing project, pillows are actually very easy and very inexpensive to do. They make a lot of impact this way as they soften up your otherwise hard-looking furniture. Depending on the design, they could also give the defining accent to your room's atmosphere. What you will only have to have is a preexisting pillow case and the yarn that you will use to create the image that you want on your pillow. Basically every type of fabric can be used in order to create a pillow. Just to be sure, though, purchase those fabrics that can sit well in the washing machine and dryer. You don't want your pillow cases to shrink once you put them in the dryer. You can try prewashing them so that they are already shrunk. But if I were you I actually won't make much effort creating the actual pillow case. While this gives you more control, it also loses that "easy-to-create" touch. You can always do with a plain pillow case and sew the design unto the pillow case. For this purpose, you can use a sewing machine or even do it the traditional way using a needle and your hand. Not everyone has the time to spend on making designs for pillow cases, but like many other crafts that you've made, you will feel that it's all worth it once you see the final design. It gets even better when you realize that you're actually sleeping with your designs by your face.
