Painting grasses is often overlooked when it comes to painting artwork, but did you know that these grasses can add a lot of perspective in your painting? Though it isn't obvious, it is also important that you give emphasis on details when it comes to grasses, especially those in the foreground.

For starters, one type of brush that is popular for grasses is the fan brush, which comes in sets. Just put in a little paint on the tip of the brush and start stroking from the roots of the leaves, pushing upward while making a 90-degree angle with the canvas. Lift off your brush at the edge of the grasses. You can do this in different directions so that you won't make an impression of sameness with your grasses.

Fan brushes take a lot of time before you get used to them. If you're not careful, it's very easy for an expert to recognize which is made by a fan brush and which isn't. Aside from grasses, fan brushes are typically used for shapes that need some wispy edges to them, such as clouds and, yes, grasses. Sometimes, people use them for trees, too, but that already depends on the painter because some artists prefer that the leaves of the trees become more detailed.

In this case, if you're working with foreground brushes or anything that needs some detailed lines, a line brush will work well. The tips of these brushes are typically pointed. All you have to do is to dip the tip in paint and work slowly with the details of the object that you are going to paint. Just don't overdo it because line brushes are not usually used for objects that are in the horizon, just to give them some vague effect.

Painting trees and grasses isn't as easy as what we used to think. With lots of practice and concentration, you will be able to master the art and science of painting grasses.
