Building Blocks from my Youth

Thank author of this post/comment

As a young boy, I was never fond of toy cars, robots, or balls to play with during my spare time. Call that a lame childhood, but I really did not see much value in playing those kinds of toys. Instead, I had one favorite toy that, up to now, remains as one of my favorite hobbies. This is the art of building things with Lego blocks.

No, I wouldn't call myself as a collector because I hardly have enough Lego sets to fill in a shelf (they can be darn expensive, you know) but I take joy every time I get to build a set. Due to their flexibility and potential when it comes to the things that you can build with them,I have come to believe that they are some of the best toys around. They make up the perfect gift for people with inventive minds.

Yes, Lego blocks are usually sold in sets that you can imitate, but these days people have become more inventive their Lego blocks that they create things you wouldn't normally think as possible in the realm of Lego making. Lego blocks are so versatile that, according to an article in Business Week, you can arrange just six of them in 915,103,765 ways. Now that will take a lot of imagination to find out all suitable combinations!

It does not surprise me that 52 years since the modern Lego block was introduced, it remains to be a favorite toy not only among kids, but also among teenagers and adults. It may look very low-tech for a lot of kids today, but it still appeals to these people because of the Lego's versatility and adaptability to whatever your mind imagines. Build a house, a city, or even a working robot. It's all up to you, and it's all possible with Lego.

Toy trends elsewhere may evolve and change, but the Lego will always remain there. No wonder it's been chosen to become the Toy of the Century.
