Thanks to advancements in graphical technology and computers, applications like Photoshop, which allows you to create great works of visual art in your computer, have become better and better at what they do. To an extent, we can already say that mastering Photoshop (among others) already requires a separate set of skills different from your usual visual artists.
Learning how to use an image editing software like Photoshop and Gimp does take a lot of time. I would be stupid to say that I know a lot about these software applications when I don't. I do work with Gimp a lot of times when the need to design user interfaces in my work requires it, but aside from that I really don't have much time to pursue image editing as a hobby. Fortunately, learning how to master it can be done, thanks to numerous tricks and tutorials available for everyone's perusal. One thing that I liked about the Internet is the free sharing of information among people from different backgrounds and locations. Information on how to use these complex graphical applications are examples of what you can get online. But don't discount image editing as just a hobby. Many people earn a significant amount of income just because of their mastery of Photoshop in particular. Companies do hire specific people just to create these digital images for them, and these companies are not just limited to those engaged in creative design. The corporate world is full of opportunities for people who are creative enough to produce great works of art using their computers. The traditional arts are fine and well. Doing an excellent job in any of these arts will always be a plus for you, but it should not hurt to learn how to use graphical editors as well. You can talk about...
